Global Warming

I've received tonnes of chain e-mails, Facebook wallposts and all form of messages about global warming. Some are so misleading that state the possibility of th Earth to become a water ball. How nonsensical. The passage below is a part of my knowledge. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm considered ignorant and not an expert on this. *smile*

Global warming would cause the average temperature of the Earth to rise. It'd cause weathers to be critical. Longer summer and shorter winter, or vice versa. Crops couldn't grow due to lack of water caused by drought of long summers or due to critical weather caused by abnormal period of the seasons. Aquatic lives would change their habitats due to the pressure of the air caused by the temperature, which would eventually slow down the flow of the ocean.

Ice on mountains at the poles would melt, and then freeze again. Ocean near the equator would be warmer. This is mainly because the lighter part (ice) reflects heat from the sun and the darker part (ocean) absorbs heat from the sun. Gradually, the Earth will turn to be an ice ball. Not literally, but more like stepping into the Ice Age.

Some scientists claim that this is caused by human activities on Earth, like massive developments and pollutions. On the other hand, some scientists claim that this isn't necessarily cause by human alone, it might be the natural change of the Earth since none of us lives long enough to witness these. This is still very debatable because we, human, are actually so tiny that we know nothing much of our environment.

One thing only I know, and that is that I know nothing.
---Socrates
No matter what's the cause, we're responsible to take good care of our Mother Earth.

p/s: We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children. (Ancient Proverb)
