Personally, I'm not a coffee-lover. I started drinking coffee about 3 years ago, and I drink rarely. Hence, I couldn't relate myself to coffee.
Guess what, I'm currently a part-time barista in Starbucks Coffee.
Let me tell you the story of me and coffee then.
I've never had Starbucks Coffee before I started working here. For me, Starbucks Coffee is a branded beverage with service charges included in the price of the drinks. Hey! I don't even use their Wi-fi connection! Why should I pay for the it?
Cory introduced me this work when I was hunting for part-time job. The salary is considered high in F & B field. It was tempting, of course. At the end I went for the interview after the introduction. I got hired pretty quickly due to the friendship of Cory and my ex-store manager have. Thank God, for giving me such an opportunity.
After working here, I've learned a lot about drinks, apparatus, F & B management, and some other leadership skills. I couldn't learn all these through other job and places. I've known more on socializing, especially people from different races. (I'm not being specifically racist here, it's just that only a few Chinese are working in my store...) Another thing I'm grateful of, of course. *smile*
Now on, I don't see coffee as a beverage that gives bitter yet aromatic taste, but also the connection between me, my interest, my job, and its product. I'm not forgetting the smile from the customers that always brings me satisfaction too.
Coffee doesn't give me the taste of pleasure, but a lifetime learning experience at the turning point of my growth.
